Miqat is a quiet prayer-times app. It works out the five prayer times on your phone from where you are and the date, reminds you when each one comes in, and stays out of the way the rest of the time.
Prayer times
Times are calculated on the device, not fetched from a server, so they keep working without a connection. Choose a city from the list, type coordinates, or let the app use your approximate location. You can pick the calculation method, Shafi'i or Hanafi Asr, a high-latitude rule and a per-prayer adjustment in minutes, so the times match your local masjid. Travelling? Each place keeps its own settings.
Alerts
An alert at each prayer, set per prayer: a chime, vibration, a sound file of your own, or nothing. An optional early reminder before each one. Alerts are rescheduled after a restart, and if Android blocks exact alarms the app tells you in plain words rather than failing quietly.
Qibla
A compass pointing to the Kaaba, corrected from magnetic north to true north, with the distance to Makkah.
Qur'an
The complete Arabic text with Pickthall's English translation, stored in the app and readable offline. Search by verse number or by word, browse by surah or juz, keep bookmarks and carry on where you stopped.
Tasbih
A counter with named dhikr, a session count, today's total and a lifetime total.
Hijri calendar and Ramadan
A Hijri calendar with the Monday and Thursday fasts and the white days marked. Dates are calculated, not taken from a moon-sighting announcement, so they can differ from your local authority by a day; you can shift them by a day in Settings. In Ramadan, Today shows suhoor and iftar, with a suhoor reminder and a record of the fasts you have kept.
Also included
- A monthly timetable of every prayer time, to copy or share
- Jumu'ah time with Friday and Surah al-Kahf reminders
- A private prayer record, and counts of make-up prayers and fasts
- A zakat calculator that uses the prices you type in
- Two home-screen widgets: the next prayer, and all of today's times
- Backup and restore to a file you choose
What it costs
Everything above is free. There is one optional one-time purchase, which unlocks the memorisation companion: choose a surah, juz or range of verses, get a small portion each day, test yourself with the text hidden, and have each verse come back for review on a plain schedule. You can try it on one surah before buying. The same purchase removes the banner. There is no subscription.
About the ads
Free users see one small banner, on four screens only: the More menu, the monthly timetable, the zakat calculator and backup. Never beside prayer times, the Qur'an, qibla, tasbih or the calendar. It is not shown within five minutes of a prayer time, not at all during Ramadan, and not until you have used the app on three separate days.
Your data
There is no account and no sign-up. Your place, your record and your settings are stored on your phone. The app goes online only for Google Play's purchase check and for the banner. The privacy policy explains exactly what that involves.
