I just started saving with Digit and it's a great way to save money without thinking about it. What would be REALLY awesome is if it would ask you how often you get paid so that it can calculate how much you need to save for bills before next payday. Right now it's sorta just taking out all of my bills now even though payday is around the corner. I don't know, just a thought. Still all around great app.
My original review: Love the ease of stashing money via SMS. Withdrawing money hits your bank account quickly. My new review: Charging 2.99 per month to give 1 percent back is absurd. The SMS integration is still cool but not worth 36 bucks a year. I've moved to qapital which is free and has more features. Good luck digit - I am pulling for you, but not with my money...
I enjoyed using this app, but I can't afford to pay $3 a month to save money. My budget is very tight, and while it did help me put aside some money, I often had to end up withdrawing money to buy groceries or pay a bill. With my bank savings account transfers are instant, but with Digit it takes a few days to get your money. I will be researching alternatives and closing my account before the 100 days is up. It was nice while it lasted, but it kind of feels like the rug being pulled out from under me.
I got this app because my husband and I are terrible at saving money. We need funds for a trip in July and for moving. I decided to give it a shot, willing to pay $3, but to my surprise I get over 3 months to try it for free! It saved even more than I was expecting, which was nice, and when I needed a little extra in my account due to car troubles it was super easy to get my money back. This app does the thinking for me, a person who spends more than they ever save, and is going to be well worth $3/month to use. It saves more than that for me in a day anyways.
I know y'all need to eat, but I think you should've surveyed or something before making your monetization plan. Maybe tried a freemium model or some tiers. I don't actually use the app often though. I've been attached to the simplicity of the texts and the webapp was cool when necessary. The app doesn't even show me how much money I have in digit now without a button press. And you need a lock situation.
The amount of times I was disconnected from this app and had to reconnect to my bank was annoying but I stuck with it. Now you're charging $3 to save my OWN money?? On top of that something shady is going on and all of a sudden I can't log in to my account. You guys have all my banking account info and now locked me out from signing in. I want to cancel my account immediately and I want ALL of my money back, every last penny. So disappointed.
Thanks for using Digit! We made some improvements and squashed some bugs to make the app even easier to use.
