About this app

Help prevent tick encounters and tick-borne diseases. By sharing when and where you encounter ticks you will help researchers at the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University to better prevent tick-borne diseases. The Tick App also provides information on tick identification, tick removal and other prevention ideas. You can also submit ticks for identification by university staff.

The Tick App was developed as part of a collaborative research study between the Midwest and Northeast Centers of Excellence in Vector-borne Disease.

Latest update has created a persistent notification which is annoying. It's also broken the update daily log functionality. Now when you create a daily log it's locked and permanent, no updating if you find another tick later. Otherwise it's a useful tool if you live in the survey area.

Thank you for reporting these issues! We released a new version (3.2.8) today that should give you more control over the persistent notification and let you update the Daily Logs again. Feel free to let us know if you have any further feedback at tickapp@wisc.edu. Thank you again for using the app!

Don't bother until they get the app working better. They ask you to sign up and then require you to answer screen after screen of questions. After minutes of doing this it flipped back to the first page and none of my inputs were saved. 10 minutes of work for nothing.

Thank you for trying out the app. We're sorry that you ran into a problem! What you experienced shouldn't have happened and we would like to further examine the problem (you're the first one to report this and crashes like yours did not happen during our testing). Could you email us at tickapp@vetmed.wisc.edu and we can help figure out the problem?

Cool citizen science ap with useful safety and prevention info. I helped a friend get appropriate medical attention for a bite because of what I learned from the ap. Have contacted the scientific team using this and found them very helpful.
