About this app

You've got a fish on the hook and now you need to know if you're allowed to keep it. The Fishing Book app answers this question on one screen: You select the German state and fish species, enter the length, and receive clear information on closed seasons, minimum sizes, and catch limits. The app also displays the relevant regulation and the date of the last review.

The data covers all 16 German states: species protected year-round, catch limits, the permitted number of rods, and the rules for night fishing.

There are 440 identification photos for 150 fish species, usually two or three per species. If you're unsure of a fish while you're out on the water, you can compare it directly with the photos in the app. The photographer and license information are displayed with each image.

On the map, you tap your state and immediately see how many species are currently closed season there. The second view shows your own fishing locations.

The app calculates the best fishing times based on the position of the sun and moon at your location: sunrise and sunset, moon phase, moonrise and moonset, and the favorable time windows for the next seven days.

You save your catches in a private log. You can add a photo and location to the entry. Everything stays on your device; you don't need an account.

The app works offline, even at bodies of water without network coverage.

The fishing log does not replace official information, a fishing permit, or the regulations of the respective water management authority. Therefore, always check the conditions for your specific body of water. Water maps and fishing spots are not included.
