About this app

I love being out on the water, but I couldn't find a nautical chart app that was easy to use, comprehensive, and free all at once. So I built one myself. Luotsi is a free, ad-free nautical chart for Finnish waters. Open the app and see your position on Finnish charts — even offline, out on the water with no signal.

FEATURES
• Real-time GPS position on a vector chart (smooth zooming, course-up)
• Trip logging: distance, duration, weather, top and average speed
• Measurement tool: distance and bearing between points, route planning
• Save waypoints and check the weather at a point
• Wind and weather now and for the hours ahead, plus coastal station data (wind, water level, water temperature)
• Live AIS: positions of other vessels (Fintraffic Digitraffic)
• All of Finland's pump-out (septic) stations on the map
• Property boundaries
• Dynamic wind map
• Download an area for offline use
• GPX export for backup

PRIVACY
Your location never leaves your device. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no analytics or advertising SDKs in the app. For weather, only coordinates rounded to roughly 1 km accuracy are sent.

OPEN DATA
Includes open data from Traficom, Väylävirasto (the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency), the National Land Survey of Finland, and Fintraffic, plus weather data from Open-Meteo and the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

NOTE: Luotsi uses open data that is NOT suitable for navigation and is not an official nautical chart. Do not use it as your only means of navigation. Keep official charts and equipment with you.
