InDanger turns the phone in your pocket into a silent personal safety device. When you can't take it out, can't speak, or can't unlock the screen, you can still reach the people who matter — using a headset button, a power-button sequence, or a tap pattern you set yourself.
Why InDanger
Most safety apps assume you have time to open them. You don't always. InDanger is built for the moments where any visible action is unsafe — a hand reaching for a headset wire, a discreet sequence of power-button taps, or a screen-tap pattern only you know. No unlocking. No app on screen. No words needed.
How it works
1. Add the people you trust (SMS numbers, emails, or both).
2. Choose your trigger: headset button, power-button sequence, or screen-tap pattern.
3. Arm the system when you feel uneasy — or leave it always-on.
4. When triggered, InDanger sends each contact an alert with your live GPS location.
Built for real emergencies
• Backup channel per contact — if SMS fails, the message falls over to email (or vice versa) automatically.
• Cancel window — an accidental trigger gives you a configurable grace period to abort.
• Silent emergency mode — zero notifications, vibrations or sounds when an alert is firing. Your phone gives nothing away.
• Self-test built in — verify end-to-end delivery to your OWN test number / email before you ever need it. Your real contacts are never messaged during a test.
• 90-day re-verification reminder — keeps the system honest as phones, networks and SMTP relays change.
• Idle health check — the app watches for blocked notifications, missing cellular coverage, missing SMTP configuration, and missing keystore access, and surfaces them before you need them.
• Live location follow-ups — after an alert, your location-sharing contacts receive a fresh GPS pin every 10 minutes (up to 3 updates) until you send the all-clear.
• "I'm safe" all-clear — one tap closes the loop; a 30-minute reminder makes sure your contacts always know you are OK.
• Check-in (dead-man) timer — "Check on me in 15, 30 or 60 minutes." Miss the deadline and an alert fires automatically.
• Carrier delivery receipts — the timeline shows "Delivered to Maria 12:03" the moment the carrier confirms your SMS landed.
• Per-contact verification test — send one real test message from a contact's details screen; success marks their channel verified.
• Wear OS trigger — a paired smartwatch companion app fires the same durable alert as the phone, signature-protected.
Privacy
InDanger has no backend. Your contacts, location history, and SMTP credentials never leave your device. Alerts go directly from your phone to your contacts over SMS and an email relay (Gmail, Outlook, or your own SMTP server) that you control. No analytics. No third-party tracking.
