Dropping a star because the breaking news pop-over alert is STILL kicking me out of news stories I'm in the middle of reading and back to the top level. WHY CANT THIS SIMPLE THING BE FIXED?! Otherwise it's generally not a bad app. However there is still no search and text cannot be selected. Video controls are now hidden and less intuitive and sometimes theres no way to turn off distracting subtitles. Else the layout, colour schemes, spacing, readibility etc. all work well.

Live videos don't play. Much improved app with less ads ruining the experience allowing me to quickly get the news and go. Interface is nice and fresh with plenty of content. Keep the ads out. I see the video section has them. Also the ads don't play straight away and I find I have to click on the video a few times. I tend to just skip the video as I have no time for ads. If I do need to wait I turn down the volume.

I always overlooked the irritating news flash pop ups which took you out of what you were reading. Now the app is totally inaccessible if you're using a VPN. I'm in Ireland, pay a licence fee (happily) but now must be trackable before the news app will give access. Poor form, RTÉ.
