tvusage is a parental control app designed for parents and guardians to monitor and manage their child's screen time on Google/Android TV, Android phones, and Android tablets.

When installed on your child's device, tvusage tracks app usage and enforces screen time rules you set. A persistent notification is displayed on the device at all times while monitoring is active, so the device user always knows tvusage is running.

Accessibility Service

This app uses an optional Accessibility Service to detect the currently active application on the device. This is used to enforce app blocking and screen time restrictions in real time. The accessibility service does not read, collect, or transmit the content displayed within apps. It is used solely for foreground app detection. The app remains functional without this service enabled, though real-time app blocking may be limited on some devices.

Monitoring Disclosure

tvusage is a child monitoring application. It is intended exclusively for parents and legal guardians to manage their minor children's screen time. The app monitors app usage, enforces restrictions, and displays a persistent notification on the monitored device at all times. tvusage must not be used to monitor any adult's device.

Does the job, has good control - both schedule and total time. And easy to add more time. 2 things they could do better: 1. Allow controlling from an app on an android phone 2. Don't make the control only usable with a remote. On a shield ATV often the main usage is through a game controller, so should have worked with it too, but doesn't

Great idea, but needs work! Unfortunately, with any lag (even a tiny amount- I have a Chromecast with Google TV, so not that slow), it's very easy to bypass the pin to install apps, just by hitting install quickly enough before the pin wall pops up. My kids will figure this out instantly. If there was a way to make this app so it blocked access to the app store altogether, this might work better.

I purchased the TV Basic plan for one device to control my children’s screen time, but the software has been extremely unreliable. It worked initially, then stopped functioning parental controls fail to activate, allowing unrestricted access. I now have to manually reset the locks every time the TV is turned on, which defeats the purpose. Overall, a very disappointing experience and a waste of money.
