About this app

Anytype brings your conversations, docs, notes and databases together in one private app – offering powerful, local-first collaboration.
Everything you create is end-to-end encrypted, accessible offline, synced securely across devices – and always yours.
---
One app, different ways to collaborate:
• Chats – For collaboration in motion. Create notes, docs or tasks right from your chat window. Start group conversations with teammates or family, and plan ideas without leaving the chat. It’s the fastest way to move from talking to creating.
• Spaces – For structure and focus. Organize projects, teams, family or personal areas into docs, lists and databases. Keep secure notes and essential documents separate from shared work, with clear boundaries for each space.
---
What’s possible with Anytype:
• Create pages & notes – From quick memos to long-form documents with media.
• Edit with blocks – Combine text, tasks or embeds on one page.
• Define content types – Go beyond pages and create custom entities like CV or Research.
• Publish to web – Share your writing, ideas or a new CV beyond Anytype.
• Manage lists & tasks – From simple todos to complex projects.
• Add properties – Use fields like Tag, Status, Assignee or create your own.
• Sort & filter – Create custom views to organize content your way.
• Use templates – Reuse text blocks or bullet lists to speed up writing.
• Save bookmarks – Keep articles to read later or catalog important links.
---
Why Anytype?
• Private by design – Only you hold the key to your data.
• Yours forever – Everything is stored on-device and always accessible.

not very helpful that when I connect to my desktop, none of the settings are transferred over for my collections and things like that, which is stressful and adds unnecessary time to creating notes. This appears to be a common theme, where things could be done WAY more efficiently from a user's POV. I like the UI on desktop (wish the app was similar) I see tons of potential for this app for both the android and desktop versions once efficiency, parity, and consistency are taken into account.

This. Is. Brilliant. For almost 2 decades I have been trying to sync OneNote or other notes, Joplin or Synology notes and they all... didn't. Sometimes maybe. Slowly definitely. I just stumbled on this in Linux, scanned the QR code to login and my phone had all my desktop content in a blink. So well done! And the breadth of what it can do is wild. My new favorite app.

Cool idea, not well executed yet. I feel like they are in their infancy and perhaps will be a better contender down the line. For now, they advertise it being local, but in actuality if you want access from your phone you gotta use their hosting. Self hosting is poorly documented and is not possible to setup like common application installs. I went back to Notion, which this app basically is, but Anytype has a bit more intuitive interface.
