About this app

What is PoStRing?

PoStRing is a new social networking app that isn’t based on followers or following. It allows users to expand the places they can post as they move around. PoStRing was developed with the goal of reducing online conflicts and controversies.

Note: PoStRing uses location information, but sharing location is not the primary purpose.

Features:
You can post messages at your current location or at your favorite places, and view messages (called “Rings”) posted by others within a 500-meter radius.
By connecting people who love the same places, we aim to create a platform that reduces friction and offers a more comfortable communication space.

How to use:
You can post Rings at your current location or places you’ve visited before, and view Rings posted by others.
Each post is tagged with location information, but the location is chosen by the user and doesn’t have to be the current location. For privacy, PoStRing adds some inaccuracy to the location by default (you can choose to post with accurate location data or hide the location entirely).

What you can do with PoStRing:
If you save Times Square as a favorite location, you can view and post Rings around Times Square even when you're elsewhere.
Additionally, if you find a Ring at one location, you can repost (Chain) it to another place, like sharing it with friends at a different location.

Other useful features:
Sending and receiving Direct Messages (DMs)
Attaching images to Rings or DMs
Adding people to your friend list
Reporting Rings or DMs
Blocking and unblocking problematic users
Right to be forgotten:
PoStRing implements a feature where all Rings and DMs disappear every Wednesday at 00:00 (Japan Standard Time). This way, you can express yourself freely without being tied to past statements.

Start using PoStRing and enjoy new conversations with people near you or in your favorite places!

What’s new

・Corrected location information notation
It seems that the location information given to Ring is difficult to convey that it is the "selected location" by the user, so I tried modifying it...but what do you think?
・Update all libraries used
There was one that wasn't updated at all, so I decided to fork it and use it...
