Note: root is NOT (I repeat NOT) required for majority of the functions. However, a few of the actions (like the Kill App and Mobile Data action on some devices) require root. This is because of Android security policies that developers cannot work around.

If you set it up to do so, Tasker can automatically backup your files to a specific folder on the device, SD card, USB key or even Google Drive! This is useful if you want to keep your files safe even if you lose your phone.

Note 1: Tasker uses the BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN permission in order to provide the System Lock functionality

Note 2: Tasker uses an accessibility service for some of its features like closing the notification tray, checking which app is currently opened and more.

Ratings and reviews

Excellent app, I'm able to automate battery saving measures while my phone is inactive, get emergency texts pushed through whether the phone is in silent or DND, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's an outstanding tool for automation. I'm still learning, and have had some excellent help from the developer who has the patience and professionalism to help explain things to an idiot! If you've got the patience to learn, this is an extremely powerful tool.

Works good. Im working on a voice assistant for my computer, and there's no official way of controlling smart home devices on pc, so im using this to send requests from my pc to phone to then control google home. So far, so good. I might update to 5 stars if it continues working as I need. (I know i can use android app emulation on my pc, but i like this better.)

For the last decade, Tasker has always one of the first apps I install when getting new phone. It adds in many features and capabilities to allow you to customize and automate many tasks, (like shake for flashlight). Taking your productivity on your phone to a new level. The developer always goes above and beyond and even dialogs about why he gave certain instructions in the help. If you don't have this app, go get it and install it today!
