If you're looking for a minimal and simple calendar app then PinkCal might be for you. Please note Android will deny PinkCal permissions and app will not work until permissions are granted - see the image showing proper setup. Go to Android Settings, Apps, PinkCal and enable as showing in the screenshot here on PlayStore.

Very cool new feature - have your notifications spoken, no more having to pick up your phone just to see a notification text.

Double tap a date to enter a new item. Single tap a date to view items starting at that date. Your selected date is shown in green. Items are listed under the calendar. Check out the screenshots.

Powerful and easy to use support for repeating reminders/events, daily, weekly, by day of month, end of month, every other week, specific day of the month, etc. If you can find better functionality for repeating events I'd love to hear about it - thanks!
