About this app

We all have a role in preventing suicide. This evidence-based app consists of up to six questions designed to identify whether someone is at risk for suicide, determine the severity of that risk, and recommend the level of support that person needs. This version of the app was customized for use for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes DHS Component-specific resources.

This app is intended to equip and empower you to approach someone who is in high distress, experiencing a crisis, or severely depressed. Oftentimes, we might recognize that someone we know is very upset or is suffering, but we don’t know how or what to ask to address their safety or the appropriate help they need. The app presents the questions to ask, you specify their yes/no response, and recommended resources are generated at the end.
