About this app

Bare is a clean, open-source browser for Android designed to keep you in control. It combines simple browsing with browser extensions, built-in ad blocking, useful media tools, and privacy-conscious defaults.

EXTENSIONS

Install supported browser extensions, including password managers and dark-mode tools. Load a downloaded CRX file or an unpacked extension, and pin your favorites to the toolbar.

BUILT-IN AD BLOCKING

Bare includes the full, removable version of uBlock Origin to block unwanted ads, trackers, pop-ups, and other page elements.

BACKGROUND MEDIA PLAYBACK

When enabled, background media playback keeps supported audio and video playing when you switch apps or lock your phone.

FLEXIBLE DOWNLOADS

Manage downloads inside Bare or send them to a compatible external download manager when you prefer.

SEARCH YOUR WAY

DuckDuckGo is the default search engine on new installs. You can choose, add, and manage search engines in Bare’s settings.

PRIVACY-CONSCIOUS BY DESIGN

Bare does not operate analytics, advertising, telemetry, or user-tracking services. It does not require a Bare account or use a Bare cloud synchronization service.

Bare stores your history, bookmarks, tabs, cookies, settings, and extension data on your device. Websites, search providers, extensions, and optional services may still receive information when you use them. See Bare’s Privacy Policy for details.

OPEN SOURCE

Bare’s source code is publicly available for inspection. Anyone can review how the browser works and how its privacy-related features are implemented.

Bare is actively developed and shaped by its community.

- Protected video (DRM) now plays on Android 16 and later.
- Google sites open in their mobile layout again instead of desktop pages.
- The Chrome Web Store fits your phone and still installs extensions.
- New in Settings > Developer options > User agent: choose which browser Bare presents itself as to websites.
