I haven't bought books in years (cuz I only like e-books) but couldn't find a model I wanted to support. Never was a kindle guy (thank goodness). Being able to support local bookstores through this app is SO cool!! Also I love their support for as much non-DRM content as possible and hope they'll continue that fight. Thanks for helping me find hope and enjoyment in reading again. The only improvement I recommend are renaming the app to just "Bookshop" and fixing the app icon to be adaptive.

I love the Bookshop mission, and I've already bought 20+ ebooks, but the app is disappointing. I only buy fiction because search is appalling. First, you have to be online. Second, it includes words containing search words (like "research" instead of "sea"). The worst is that when I tap the result, the bottom of the screen says I've gone to that page, but the screen shows where I was before. Also the serif font looks bold, even on the thin setting on my Boox device. It seems not to adjust.

Hi Katherine. Thank you for your review. We certainly are aware of the faults of our ebook text search & have plans to make improvements in the future. Though not the issues you mention (offline search, word fragments), the latest update (2.0.1) contains some small improvements to search. We'd love to hear what you think at: product@bookshop.org

The mission of giving books to local shops is fantastic. I WANT TO BUY BOOKS FROM HERE. Sadly I can't. the app bugs out and loses my progress at times. The biggest problem is that it does not support physical buttons for page turning. I have an Onyx Boox go color 7 and I can't use the buttons to turn pages. I feel like this is a must feature for an ebook app. If this gets added I'll be glad to start buying books to support my local community.

Thank you Joshua for your review! The app does support the physical buttons for page turning on Boox devices. Make sure that Boox's "App Optimization" settings have the "Custom Side Buttons" set to "Volume" for the app. Then when you activate this setting in the reader controls (Advanced > Turn Pages With Volume Buttons) it should work as expected.
