Who is behind PeerTube?

PeerTube is a project developed by Framasoft, a French non-profit organisation committed to popular education about the digital commons. Framasoft is known for its many initiatives aimed at raising public awareness of alternatives to large centralised platforms and encouraging digital practices that are more respectful of privacy and individual freedoms. This is done in particular through the De-google-ify Internet campaign, which proposes some fifteen services as alternatives to those of the net giants.

Ratings and reviews

This is a great app that can probably replace Youtube if properly implemented and maintained. Gave two stars for now due to lack of the features.Please add the following features: Change video quality. Fast forward, rewind and loop. Edit/ remove videos on watch history. Add a data saver feature. Add picture in picture pop up player. Also, please advertise this platform more so that there will be more users. Lastly, block AI contents from this platform. These are my suggestions for the meantime.

It's pretty okay. But my biggest complaint is the lack of a way to disable video playback gestures. I prefer to control brightness and volume with android's native ways because being able to change those with gestures always results in doing so by accident very frequently. If I could disable gestures, I would give the app 5 stars, but with gestures being forced, it is very frustrating to watch videos here

I couldn't find any decent video content within this app. Furthermore, the website that originally redirected me here is nowhere to be found inside the app itself. To make matters worse, the few videos available have virtually no engagement, sitting at zero, one, or two views at most. I have uninstalled it.
