About this app

This app is a companion to the HamAlert web site (hamalert.org) and lets you receive push notifications from HamAlert.

HamAlert is a system that allows amateur radio operators to get notifications when a desired station appears on the Reverse Beacon Network, SOTAwatch, POTA, the DX cluster or PSK Reporter.

Spots can be filtered by various criteria, including:

• DXCC (both actual and callsign home DXCC)
• Callsign
• SOTA summit reference
• CQ zone
• Continent
• Band
• Mode
• Time and days of week
• Source
• Spotter callsign and DXCC

Ratings and reviews

This app would be great if the filters (called triggers in this app) actually worked. I set everything up for the bands I wanted, and that worked fine. But when I set it up to show me only SSB spots, it shows all the digital modes like FT8, etc. Maybe I set something up wrong. I think the app could be a little more user-friendly. So far I haven't found a way to choose a cluster node. This app has a lot of potential.

Regarding the poor review from 2021, HamAlert provides enough notifications from its various sources to notify you that a station is active. But, if I surmise correctly, it doesn't repeat every "trigger," which is good, because that would be annoyingly redundant. Most notifications come from Reverse Beacon Network. I got TX5EU Austral Island, my first-ever South Pacific because of HamAlert notification, with 100 watts into a randomly fed, indoor, 150 foot wire strung around the 2nd floor; lol.

Good in theory, poor in execution. Installed and configured application as per the instructions, which I read thoroughly. I setup a trigger for a group of prefixes which I wanted to be alerted for. The group contained about 20 prefixes in the prefix list. The alert is set to use all sources, Cluster, PSK Reporter, etc. But I'm only getting alerts for 2 prefixes in my list, despite knowing that these prefixes are being spotted on the Cluster. I had hoped for more.
