I really don't like reading books on backlit screens but the screen customization available through this app is lovely. Nice selection. Beautiful graphics. The design isn't bare bones minimalistic, there is a cozy atmosphere to this app. I also use the app Night Mode which is the perfect combination for bedtime reading. Perhaps a suggestion is in there but it's not necessary. The books broken up into smaller challenges makes it a breeze. This app is worth its bytes in gold. Highly recommended purchase. I've read more than I ever thought I would on a phone. I hope you keep going with this app. I absolutely love it. Thank you <3.
Downloaded Serial Reader, and subscribed to Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. Then I let the app lay forgotten on my phone. Tonight, I decided to give it a shot, and absolutely fell in love with the reading experience! Enough that I chose to upgrade the app. This is much easier than carting around heavy classics, or reading them on my phone in other apps. I get to slow down as I read, savor the moments, enjoy the scenery. I can adjust the background and text for easier reading, yet maintain the minimalist experience felt when reading a good book, holding it in my hands, slowly turning the pages. Well done! An excellent app, well developed, with readers in mind!
What a great way to discover fantastic books you've either skipped over before or never heard of. I fell in love with Serial Reading back when Stephen King released The Green Mile as a serial. I'm totally loving this app!! Anyone can fit in 10 or 15 min a day to enrich their life through reading!! The app is super easy to use. You can use it for free but it's well worth the few bucks to support it!! (I'd actually pay the price of a coffee!!) You can use this app anywhere and the book choices are excellent. Great app all the way around! Try the Yellow Wallpaper... It hooked me on this app!!
I actually love this app! Great design, great idea. I'm an avid reader but there are some books (e.g. Moby Dick) that you need a routine to get through. This app is great for that. The only thing I don't think is clear is whether the upgrade is a one time fee or a subscription... Can the developers clarify?
Just finished reading Dorian Gray and I LOVE THIS APP, it actually makes me want to read. The problem is that I started reading treasure island and then stopped, but after a few days it said I COMPLETED IT even though the issues are marked unread. It would be cool if the app told me which issue I'm on and which one I can read next on the homepage rather than clicking 'completed' and continuing it from there.
This app is such a brilliant (and well-executed!) concept that's gotten me reading again and for that I will be forever grateful, truly. I don't know the mechanism behind how they acquire new books but my one complaint is the overpowering whiteness of the available selections (at least in what I've browsed). Wish there was some Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Harlem Renaissance in there - any any any non-Western or non-white classics - but as is this is certainly getting me caught up on a lot of fun classic British and Russian novels and is one of my most appreciated apps for sure. I daydream about transferring this format to my (largely unused for years) kindle, that's how invaluable I find it. Deep thanks to the developers, seriously.
