Lullabox plays one calm sound on a loop for as long as your baby needs it — and then gets out of the way.
Pick a sound, press play, put the phone down. The screen can go dark, you can switch to another app, the sound keeps going. Stop it from the lock screen without unlocking.
SIXTEEN SOUNDS
• Lullabies — Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star; Brahms' Lullaby; Au clair de la lune; Frère Jacques; Für Elise.
• Nature and noise — rain, a stream, the sea, wind, crickets, pink noise, white noise.
• Sounds of mother — a heartbeat, the womb, a soft shush, calm breathing.
Rain, the stream, the sea and the wind are real field recordings. Everything else the phone works out for itself, note by note, so it never repeats exactly the same way.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
• Always on — plays until you stop it.
• Timer — plays for 1 to 90 minutes, then goes quiet.
• Cry detector — plays for a while, goes quiet, and starts again when it hears crying.
THE CRY DETECTOR, HONESTLY
The microphone listens only while the music is off. During playback it would hear the speaker, not your baby, so it does not even try. Nothing is recorded and nothing is sent anywhere — only the loudness of the room is measured, on your phone. Five sensitivity steps, from "the smallest whimper" to "only proper, lasting crying". A false start just means the music plays again, so it can be set generously.
MADE TO BE UNOBTRUSIVE
• Every sound loops seamlessly — no gap, no click, no fade to silence and back.
• One volume, the phone's own: the slider in the app and the buttons on the side move the same number.
• Each sound has its own picture, and a live waveform shows what is playing.
• Eighteen languages, light and dark theme.
NO CATCH
This is a private, non-commercial project. It is written by one parent for their own family and shared free of charge, with no company, no advertising and nothing to buy. There is no account and no sign-in. Nothing leaves your phone: the sounds are part of the app, nothing is downloaded, and the cry detector never records or sends anything.
