About this app

OpenHunt is an independent app published by Erudition Labs LLC. It is NOT a government app: it does not represent, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by, any government agency. Everything it shows is reproduced from public government records, each one linked below. The publishing agency's own information governs — confirm with them before you hunt.

OpenHunt is a mapping app for people who hunt public land: where the public land is, who owns the ground beside it, and where the boundary runs — with the source and vintage shown for every layer. Offline packs mean it still works with no service.

WHAT'S IN IT
• Land ownership and public/private boundaries from county and agency records
• Hunting unit boundaries, seasons and draw information for sixteen states
• Terrain: slope, aspect and elevation-shaded relief
• Wind and weather built for hunting decisions, not commuting
• Waypoints, routes and GPS tracks you own and can export any time (GPX, GeoJSON)
• Offline packs sized to a hunt

WHERE THE GOVERNMENT INFORMATION COMES FROM

Elevation and terrain — USGS 3D Elevation Program: https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program

Hunting units, season dates, draw odds, harvest statistics and license fees come from each state's own wildlife agency. Their published regulations are the authority; OpenHunt only reproduces them.

WHAT IT WILL NOT DO
It will not tell you a boundary is legally correct. Public records contain errors, lag reality and get revised. OpenHunt shows the data and its vintage; confirming land status with the agency and the landowner is yours. Nothing here is legal advice or a defense to trespass.

FREE, AND OPEN SOURCE
The map, the boundaries, the terrain and the math are free. Pro ($49/year, bought on the web) adds syncing across devices, sharing, offline pack delivery and Watch alerts. The app is open source under AGPL-3.0.

OpenHunt is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency. It is an independent product of Erudition Labs LLC.
