Check ID SA helps South African businesses capture and structurally check ID information while working in the field. Use your Android phone as a South African ID scanner to reduce manual data-capture errors and support consistent checking processes.

**Fast data capture**
• Scan supported barcodes on South African ID books, Smart ID cards and driver’s licences using your phone camera.
• Decode information from supported vehicle licence discs.
• Enter a 13-digit South African ID number manually when scanning is not practical, such as when a barcode is damaged or unavailable.
• Reduce common manual-entry mistakes, including missing digits, extra digits and transposed numbers.

**Structural ID-number checks**
• Check whether a South African ID number contains exactly 13 digits.
• Check whether the encoded date of birth is valid.
• Check whether the number passes the Luhn checksum.
• View decoded ID-number details, including date of birth, gender and citizenship status.
• Receive clear feedback when a number is incorrectly formatted or structurally invalid, so it can be corrected promptly.

A South African ID scanner is useful for improving data capture, but structural validation is not identity verification. Check ID SA does not confirm that an ID belongs to the person presenting it, authenticate a physical document as genuine, or query government databases.
