Laura Kate Dale (AKA LauraKBuzz) is a games expert, an advocate for inclusive game design, and has written for the likes of Polygon, Kotaku UK, IGN and more. Dale is an autistic trans woman, who reviews video games from a disability and accessibility perspective.

When she’s not deeply immersed in the world of games, Laura loves to dance to the thumping sound of music blaring across a sunny field or beach. We asked her to share some of her favourite games to let you feel the beat from your sofa and bring the groove to the palm of your hand.

It’s rare to find a music rhythm game as visually stunning as Voez. Like other games in the genre, you tap and slide your finger to hit notes as they move across the screen. You can also adjust input delay to account for your reaction speed. What sets Voez apart is how the note tracks dance around as you play. It also contains a wide range of music styles, ensuring that you’ll find something you like.

In Monument Valley 2 you manipulate an Escheresque world of toybox environments to help a mother and daughter through a wordless, emotional journey. Its soundtrack is a mix of ethereal, flowing backing tracks and rhythmic energetic melodies – all of which are a delight to listen to.

Florence is all about finding your groove as you fall in, and out of, love. The frequent minigames that chart Florence’s journey convey the beauty of the mundane. The soundtrack scores this narrative perfectly, telling a wordless story with impact beyond language. A short but beautiful experience that I will never forget.
