Lisa Fugard was born in South Africa and came to the United States in 1980. After working in the theatre, performing in New York, London and South Africa, she turned her attention to writing. Her short fiction has been published in Story, Outside and literary magazines, while her many travel articles, essays and book reviews have been published in the New York Times.Her acclaimed first novel, Skinner's Drift was named a notable book of 2006 by the New York Times.
