Lance was raised in central rural Iowa where he learned something of writing from his public high school, and even more while attending Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa and has practiced emergency medicine since 1999. He and his wife of over thirty years have raised three children. He loves escaping to all things sci-fi and fantasy, which amounts to more than most people. He is, after all, a very lucky man.
