About this audiobook

The Tantalus Cluster is the fragile cradle of humanity.

“The Sojourn is a melange of rich storytelling, superb sound effects, and well-written characters that sound so real it's like you're in the shuttle beside them. There's a lot to enjoy in this immersive, fun audiodrama." - Jeremy Szal

“It's my first audiodrama and it sets the bar very high! Really high quality sound effects and talented voice actors bring the story to life like nothing else.” - Matterbeam, ToughSF

Adrift in the divide between galaxies and surrounded by the vast emptiness of the intergalactic void, the Tantalus Cluster is the only home humanity has ever known. Desperate and facing starvation, humanity’s only hope is a strange nebula that has suddenly appeared beyond the edge of the cluster. Its shifting clouds may hide a source of salvation for the people of Tantalus, but time is running out.

Signing on to the ambitious Avalon Expedition, Privateer Captain Cassandra Farren will face the shadows of both the past and future as she leads her small crew into the unknown in a last, desperate bid for the survival of the human race.

Directed and produced with careful scientific consultation, The Sojourn captures every detail of life aboard ship and features a full cast of veteran voice actors, backed up by high-quality sound effects and an epic original soundtrack.

Starring Larissa Thompson as Captain Cassandra Farren, Emily Serdahl as Director Elizabeth Ancelet, Laura Faye Smith as Tamara Melari, Ben Prendergast as Mathias Croft, Stephen Trafford as Inquisitor Castian Vadric, also featuring Matthew Kaufman as Lieutenant Jasper Ravi, and Lelia Symington as Empress Valendra the Sixth. Written by Daniel Orrett, Rowan J. Coleman, and Larissa Thompson with sound design by Kennedy Phillips, and music by Sam Redfern.

The Sojourn is undoubtably the best audiodrama I have ever consumed, and may very well be my favourite science fiction series generally. It's full of heart, humour, and strong theming about self-definition, identity, love and life, and moving forth from trauma. Every performance is stellar, with special notice given to Emily Serdahl for the subtlety of her line reads. I'm appalled only that Google reviews will not let me write a long enough diatribe to fully capture how much I adore this show

This season is a whirlwind of emotion from start to finish. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me cower in terror. It gave me goosebumps more than once. The whole story so far is clearly a labor of love of the crew and cast. Everyone involved is putting so much heart into this show. And the writing is phenomenal! Daniel and Larissa, being the two main script writers, are just so good! And the episode by Rowan J Coleman, the fifth one, just brings me joy. I also wanna call out the work on the dedicated language of Teldrani done by my good friend and fellow nerd Izzy. She's done such great work on it, and all of the Teldrani parts are fantastic. I may not speak the fictional language, but the context is clear thanks to both Teldrani and the performances delivered in it. Please. Give this show a chance. If you like scifi at all, you'll find something to love here. Amal-Karah and Fair Winds.

This is the first proper audiodrama I've listened to (Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds doesnt count) and it is truly something special. Science fiction fans will find a lot to enjoy here but the characters, story and Age of Sail inspiration truly elevate it. I also find it hard to focus on something that is purely audio but the writing and really high quality production sucked me in and kept me there. The team behind it reach new highs with every episode, and I really cannot wait for Season 2!
