It's great to see real Star Trek coming back. Discovery is good when it doesn't preach and the values of the Federation and the camaraderie of Starfleet officers come to the fore. But Capt. Pike, younger Spock and the butt-kicking Number One change the game. In a way, this is an incredible time for Trek, with fans excited for the Picard series and demanding a Pike series, and more Discovery coming 2020. This book feels like part of the long overdue process of ST getting back on its feet. Bravo!
