After their spaceship is attacked by plant-like aliens called Xanthot, three humans escape in a lifeboat and crash land on a remote, neutral planet. Taken in by Kort, an enigmatic Xanthot deserter, tensions run high between the crash survivors and their peculiar host. But when Earth authorities attempt to kill the humans for what they know, Kort protects them, revealing himself as part of a secret resistance working to stop the ongoing intergalactic war between humans and Xanthot.
