About this audiobook

Resonance. It's a given on the ice planet, forced upon you by the parasitic symbiont called the 'khui'. With resonance, a guy and a girl are paired up because they'll make great babies. It's a survival mechanism necessary for this sparsely-populated world we're stranded on . . . and romantic, in a weird, alien way. Everyone expects resonance to happen when twenty newcomers are dropped onto the frosty world. I doubt anyone expects the gorgeous, golden god named Ashtar to resonate to someone like me, though. He's fierce. Flirty. Powerful. Disgustingly handsome. I'm . . . not any of those things. I'm bland. Boring. Clumsy. But resonance seems to think we'd be great together. And Ashtar does, too . . . Contains mature themes.

3.5 stars — Definitely another fun and intriguing edition to the new series as well as the world! Not sure if it was the narrator’s choices for the voices, but it wasn’t a favourite. Ms. Munroe had Veronica sounding a bit nasally or something, and the growling from Mr. Crisden was a bit much for this listener at times. Veronica definitely had lower confidence, but it was strangely just there…she didn’t dwell on it, she just accepted as fact that she was less interesting. It was nice to see her flower under Ashtar’s attention though. And I seriously LOVED seeing her stand up to him when he got too full of himself. Sometimes it felt as though she backed down a bit quicker than I would have liked, but eh… Ashtar was…not what I was expecting. It’s like, I got where his attitude came from, but I spent more time annoyed with him about it than I spent feeling for him. He was just kind of a jerk about not caring about ANYONE else, not wanting to be around anyone else, being wholly focused on Veronica and Veronica alone. I did appreciate that we knew where that came from, given his previous status as a slave gladiator, but it just didn’t endear him. BUT, at least we got to see him grow and slowly learn that life on NotHoth was different. But wow, having to constantly wait him out as he realized he was not thinking about Veronica’s needs got a bit tiring. I will admit that there were some hilarious moments where the Sa’khui were trying to explain things to the males about resonance that had me killing myself while listening, and I had to explain it to my poor husband. Needless to say I don’t think he was as amused, but whatever. So yeah, enjoyable, but not going to be a top pick for me. Also, since this series crosses over with IPB, I read in the suggested order and read Ariana and Zolaya’s story first, and I think I would have preferred to have read this one first now that I’m done.

Not a big fan of cocky golden boy and there isn't a lot to the story itself.
