Following a family tragedy and the discovery of a huge family secret, sixteen-year-old Jack and his quirky sister Emily must travel the Bifrost to a mythical realm called Sylvaheim. As she traverses Sylvaheim with a clumsy warrior princess from Norse mythology, Emily symbolically 'cuts' her own shadow (thereby integrating it), narrowly escapes from Merlin's cave, and makes a deal with the god of the underworld.
