About this audiobook

Watch Silo, the Apple TV+ series based on the bestselling Silo Saga, starting May, 2023!

The second volume in the New York Times bestselling Silo series. Hugh Howey goes back to show the first days of the Silo, and the beginning of the end.

In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platforms that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate.

In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event.

At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened.

in short: yes, I would recommend reading it if you plan to finish all 3 books. The story is intriguing and it ties a lot together in the last book. That said....the internal dialogues that characters have with themselves in 'Shift' are repetitive and EXHAUSTING. I mean seriously...I understood how the character felt the first 3 times they explained it. I don't need it to be repeated 20 more times in long monologues over and over again. The book might be half as long if you cut out all that duplicate fluff. Aside from that, I liked the book
