I had this version of The Hobbit on a set of four cassette tapes when I was in elementary school. We used to listen to it every time we went to Colorado in my dad's Jeep CJ-7, which was 2-4 times per year back then. I've been looking for it for decades! I've read the books so I know this isn't an unabridged version, but I still hold it up as one of the best "Books on Tape" I ever heard. Most audiobooks have one voice actor, or the author, reading the text. This has sound effects, music, and each character is voices by a different actor. It's like old time radio dramas on a much larger scale. If you have to do a report on The Hobbit, you might want to choose another version. If you're looking for a captivating listen with premium production values on your next road trip, you can't do much better than this!
