About this audiobook

Essun's missing daughter grows more powerful every day, and her choices may destroy the world in this "magnificent" Hugo Award winner and NYT Notable Book. (NPR)

The season of endings grows darker, as civilization fades into the long cold night.

Essun -- once Damaya, once Syenite, now avenger -- has found shelter, but not her daughter. Instead there is Alabaster Tenring, destroyer of the world, with a request. But if Essun does what he asks, it would seal the fate of the Stillness forever.

Far away, her daughter Nassun is growing in power -- and her choices will break the world.

N. K. Jemisin's award winning trilogy continues in the sequel to The Fifth Season.

The first book is so much better than this book. The writing is still great. It's just, kind of boring?? The first book took you on such a journey. Though, the slow, tired pace of book 2 could be purposeful to match the exhaustion of the main characters. Just isn't fun in a long form novel. I wanted to like this book, I really loved the first one. It just wasn't the same for me. I felt for the story the author is conveying but for some reason, it just was not satisfying or exciting. Where book 1 had so much intrigue and possibilities, book 2 feels like you're marching down a long hallway with the same 2 paintings lining the walls on either side. beautiful paintings, but not interesting for 12 hours of an audiobook.

This story sucks rust. I want my rusting money back. Slow is an understatement. The main character is bland. The narrator is okay but doesn't have the chops to make things more interesting.
