I didn't read this book. Instead I bought the audio book which is read to you by Mark Thompson (the original voice of Thrawn in Rebels). One of the standout features of this audiobook is its meticulous attention to detail. Timothy Zahn's intricate storytelling is beautifully complemented by Mark Thompson skillful delivery, which perfectly captures the nuances of Thrawn's strategic mind and his calculated approach to every situation. The audiobook explores Thrawn's origins, his rise through the Imperial ranks, and his encounters with various other iconic characters, all of which add layers of depth to the Star Wars narrative of Rebels. Mark Thompson voices all the characters in this book. Most of them are delivered beautifully, except for Darth Vader and the insect alien. Darth Vaders voice sounds really low which breaks the immersion around this iconic character. The insect alien was alright, but all the voice effects made him really annoying to listen to. I really enjoy how every chapter begins with strategic advice from Thrawn. It reminded me a lot of 'The Art Of War' by Sun Tzu. The book is great if you are into the new Star Wars content. It greatly expands the universe and prepares you for the new Ahsoka show.

Timothy Zahn is the author of more than forty novels, nearly ninety short stories and novellas, and four short-fiction collections. In 1984, he won the Hugo Award for Best Novella. Zahn is best known for his Star Wars novels (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command, Specter of the Past, Vision of the Future, Survivor’s Quest, Outbound Flight, Allegiance, Choices of One, and Scoundrels), with more than four million copies of his books in print. Other books include the Cobra series, the Quadrail series, and the young adult Dragonback series. Zahn has a B.S. in physics from Michigan State University and an M.S. from the University of Illinois. He lives with his family on the Oregon coast.
