But there was sadness too—the painful jealousy Julie felt after her sister got married, the tragic death of a schoolmate, and the bitter disappointment of her first love. Sometimes it all seemed like too much to handle. Julie was having a hard time believing life was fair. But she would have to be fair to herself before she could even think about new beginnings.

Irene Hunt (1907–2001) was an American children’s writer best known for historical novels. Her first book, Across Five Aprils was a runner-up for the Newbery Medal, an award which she won for her second novel, Up a Road Slowly. She was a nominee in 1974 for the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest international recognition available to creators of children’s books.
Jaselyn Blanchard attended New York University’s Steinhardt School in Vocal Performance (Music Theatre). While at NYU, she performed in numerous Steinhardt and NYU productions, including 110 in the Shade, Language of Angels, and On My Way: A Cabaret. She continued her education at Brown University/Trinity Rep Consortium, where she recently completed her Masters in Fine Arts – Acting. While at Brown, she has appeared in numerous Brown/Trinity Rep productions and was featured as Nimue in Trinity Repertory Company’s production of Camelot.
