About this audiobook

From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Hefner

Before the end of hatred, there was the dawn of peace…

Two immortals from warring species save each other’s lives as the conflict rages on.

Alrec, the hulking Vampyre warrior, spares her first.

Years later, Kilani, the fierce, uncompromising Slayer, returns the favor.

Stuck in her remote cabin, their bond grows as Kilani warily nurses her injured Vampyre, determined to deny her growing desire for the man with deep, knowing eyes and mesmerizing fangs.

And, of course, there’s only one bed…

The sizzling prequel to the Etherya’s Earth paranormal romance saga

This novella is brought to you by an author who adores her readers and always wanted to write a prequel for the series that launched her career. Written for both current and new readers, this steamy, heartfelt story has brand-new characters and a HEA.

The main characters of this book are intriguing. Being a 0.5 prequel to the series it is a quick listen that is laying the groundwork for the series. I loved the romantic parts of the book. The author did a great job in creating their connection. Only part I don’t care for is his nickname for her. It is expected given their differences but to me didn’t feel cute, just there. The prequel leaves much to be drawn into for the books moving forward.

Going in blind, I had no idea that I would be looking into Buffy * Angel's world before vampires, slayers, and demons decided that Sunnydale was the place to be. 😉 Alric & Kilani have a forbidden lovers story, if ever their was. This is Romeo & Juliet amplified, except no dual dramatic partings from their lives. They're immortal, after all. If course, they also have a more electrifying chemistry! 🔥 I really enjoyed this book, written & audio. Narrator Zachary Zaba was great as Alric

This is a rare case where I have only positive things to say about this story. I looooved the characters. Their dialogue, their interactions, their personalities. I just couldn’t get enough of them. I’m a fan of vampire stories and forbidden love as well so that just added to my enjoyment. The romance scenes were great. I often find they’re either too childish or just porn. It’s nice to have a romance scene that’s well written and one where the characters are genuinely into each other. It’s a romance scene with a purpose, not a scene that’s there just to be there. My flavorite line in the book was “Don’t give me hope. I just learned to function without hope. I can’t go back.” It’s a great quote in general but it really shows just how much these two mean to each other. It truly captures all of their chemistry and love into a few sentences. The narrator was great. I forgot I was even listening to an audiobook after I got into it. NOTE: This copy was provided to me free of charge as a digital review copy. The opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone, I was not paid or requested to give this book a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.
