About this audiobook

When it was first published over 20 years ago, Joe Haldeman's novel won the Hugo and Nebula awards and was chosen Best Novel in several countries. Today, it is hailed a classic of science fiction that foreshadowed many of the futuristic themes of the 1990s: bionics, sensory manipulation, and time distortion. William Mandella is a soldier in Earth's elite brigade. As the war against the Taurans sends him from galaxy to galaxy, he learns to use protective body shells and sophisticated weapons. He adapts to the cultures and terrains of distant outposts. But with each month in space, years are passing on Earth. Where will he call home when (and if) the Forever War ends? Narrator George Wilson's performance conveys all the imaginative technology and human drama of The Forever War. Set against a backdrop of vivid battle scenes, this absorbing work asks provocative questions about the very nature of war.

no matter what era of war and returning vets, Forever War seems to hit a mark on some of the dystopian image after coming home from a life of service, war, action, brutality etc.. interesting take on how "against the wave" our main character and his fellow marines feel. beyond that, I love the details of the surrounding. almost errir to an extent of its accuracy

Historically relevant perhaps but boring today. The book is told in a style that focuses on events and environments rather than characters. there really isn't much character development outside of the main character. Reads like one of those books from an English literature class. it's probably a good book by some measures with many literary devices. Full of interesting ideas to be sure. But the narrator lacks depth and uses the same personality for all of his characters.

The narrator makes sloshing mouth noises throughout. Otherwise 4 stars for the narration and book. I don't think everyone would find this annoying and it's not especially loud, but it bothers me. Could have easily been edited out.
