Praise For Emerald Knight

5 HEARTS! "Ms. Pillow succeeded in bringing her words to life. This book breathes, screams, and compels you to finish it. This is a spectacular Epic story about love growing in spite of everything a love separated by duty, age, time and the very natures of Wolfe and Gin. This story captures your attention until you can no longer remember that Gin and Wolfe are characters instead of living souls. Awesome, do not miss!" Sara Sawyer, The Romance Studio (2005)

"Pillow puts a lot of action in a small amount of space, but the ultimate result is a wonderful blend of conflict and love." Faith V. Smith, RT BOOKreviews (2005)

Note from the Author

Dear Readers,

How many of you know when I started my career I completely intended to be a historical romance author? I honestly thought that was all I would ever write. I even went to college to study history. I loved the creating worlds within the set rules of past societies.

My goal with historicals was to keep the characters realistic to the time they lived, within the world they lived. I'll be honest, for this reason, Emerald Knight isn't your typical modern romance. I didn't want it to be. These people did not live in our world.

I also wanted the challenge of dealing with a couple who had no choice in their futures. They were betrothed at birth before they even knew what marriage was. This book spans the course of decades and deals with marital issues arising from an arranged political marriage between two (practically) strangers that have to come to love each other, and may be sensitive to some readers.

I know many of you love a variety of books, and I hope you give it a try. The writing style is close to the award winning Maiden and the Monster as they were originally written in the same time period. The book first published in 2005.

There is also an audio version of this book for the audio fans. Plus, check out the brand new cover!

If you get a chance to read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Be sure to leave a review and email me a link! I love using reader reviews on my website!

Happy Reading!

Michelle

Knights, romance, battles, kings and villians - Emerald Knight is a great historical romance read!! This story has so much angst, I didn't want to put it down. Wolf (Wolfram) and Gin (Ginevra) have so many obstacles between them, it doesn't seem like anything is going to work out. Rich detail and well written, you get pulled right into the story. Loved the audio narration. It was a perfect match for this story!!

4.5 Stars Once again, Michelle M. Pillow manages to captivate with this historical romance filled with well written characters that will keep you rooting for them and a story line is engaging. The narrator did a fantastic job of breathing life into the characters and brought the story to life making this a joy to both read and listen to. I received an ARC and a copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Emerald Knight caught me in a bit of a quandary. I didn’t know if I wanted to like it or not. Picking it up I hadn’t realized that it was more historical and as such there was a vast difference in age, livelihood and marital expectations than we have today. Also there was the narrator, Lesley Parkin, that I had trouble following her voice. As I was thinking, well what voice would I prefer this story be told in, I realized that it was indeed the Ms. Parkins’ voice that I expected. So it was a bit of a personal preference issue that bothered me more than the narrator. I think she did a fine job with the voices and the emotions, especially when Gin and Wolf were young. Emerald Knight is the story of an eight year old boy, Wolfe, that is promised to a new born babe in order to seal an alliance. I believe that Wolfe would have accepted Gin and his fate a bit more had there not been the age difference and the brotherly torment at the declaration of their future marriage. The age difference and the fact that the two lived apart and never saw each other growing up did not help cement a healthy start to marriage. I struggled to watch both Wolfe and Gin dance through their emotions and lives without realizing they were dance partners - one step forward, two steps back and begin again. Even when they were still growing up they were in the dance. And to be so young when considered available for marriage had to be hard for Gin. She really didn’t have a childhood while Wolfe was off at war and being part of bloody battles. Wolfe and Gin really couldn’t have expected to fall into marriage easily. It was all part of the historical accuracy that the book portrayed. Overall it was a good book and I’m glad to have listened to it.
