Book 1: Magus and the Navaratna

Imagine waking up one morning to find yourself in the midst of a mystery. Eighteen 18-year-olds from around the world, each with their unique cultural backgrounds and perspectives, experienced just that. They were approached by three enigmatic professors from Maguš, a mysterious institution, who asked about their dreams before disappearing without a trace. Later, they were informed of a generous anonymous benefactor who would support their pursuit of a Bachelor of Magic degree alongside a conventional degree of their choice at Maguš University.

These eighteen individuals embarked on a journey of a lifetime. They traveled across the world, discovering enchanting magical places and encountering legendary creatures in some of nature's most awe-inspiring wonders. Their destination? Maguš is an extraordinary university located on a mysterious island. Here, they delved into the study of space, mythology, and magic and participated in unique sports and activities. They also undertook a dangerous quest, hunting for particles from other planets that had fallen to Earth over thousands of years. Their adventure took a thrilling turn when they were tasked with protecting a set of mythological stones that safeguard humanity. After a year of living as extraordinary 18-year-olds, they underwent a profound transformation, receiving training to become some of the greatest magicians the world has ever seen. Get ready for an exhilarating ride in Maguš and the Navaratna by P.K. McHugh.

About the author

Pallavi Kakoti McHugh is an extraordinary woman who has triumphed over racism, trauma, hardships, and fortune changes to attain racial harmony, happiness, peace, and success in various countries. She is a human rights and environmental pioneer and is recognized for her courageous whistleblowing work to protect the public interest.

During Christmas of 2019, Pallavi's husband gifted her the first book of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and challenged her to create a more captivating story within two weeks. She accepted the challenge under the condition that the main character and storyline would represent the race of every child and youth from all around the world, firmly believing that diversity and inclusion are crucial in literature. As a child, she longed to see characters who resembled her in her favorite books and felt that not enough progress had been made in this area.

Drawing inspiration from her own experiences of venturing to an island (New Zealand) for studies, her magical stories are primarily products of her imagination. Although unsure of whether her initial foray into fiction, fantasy, and children's literature could rival J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, she thoroughly enjoyed crafting the book and hopes that her readers will derive similar enjoyment from it.
