About this audiobook

On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force—and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy.

Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency. The leader of a fanatical cult, obsessed with traveling beyond the reaches of known space, is bent on opening a cosmic gateway using dreaded dark matter as the key—risking a cataclysmic reaction that will consume the entire star system. But more shocking to Lanoree than even the prospect of total galactic annihilation, is the decision of her Je’daii Masters to task her with the mission of preventing it. Until a staggering revelation makes clear why she was chosen: The brilliant, dangerous madman she must track down and stop at any cost is the brother whose death she has long grieved—and whose life she must now fear.

The plot is somehow incredibly boring, contrived, yet isn't really about anything. The motivation of the antagonist makes zero sense, and not in a good "he's CRAZY" way -- in a "did this author make it out of high school?" way. As others mention, the inconsistencies are bad enough that you'll stop reading to make sure you saw the character building indicate that the new thing you just read doesn't make any sense, and you'll be doing this repeatedly throughout the book to the point that you can almost pretend it was written by an early generation novel writing A.I. There's just so little substance here, and so much of it doesn't add up to coherence. The trope "I'm a bad guy and I'm going to leave you to die" is glaringly bad and made me roll my eyes so hard my optometrist says I can't afford to read the book again. I've also never read a book that just asserts the bad guy is just bad, announcing it again and again without anything at all to explain or expand on it. I'm still confused.

Awesome Audiobook some people are mad that it 30000 yrs in the past, but today with computers and fast forward 30000 yrs in the future wouldn't these computers be ancient. Plus in this story there is no light sabers they haven't even been invented yet.

Lanoree and Tre are both awesome characters, and I absolutely loved them here. It's sad to see that their story was never finished.
