About this audiobook

"If you're a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you will love this book." -- Aestas Book Blog on Four Letter Word

He didn't want to be bad. He just didn't have a choice...

Shayla Perkins isn't the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean "Stitch" Molina. So when he gives her the world's biggest rejection, that's it--she's done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn't mean he's interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he's paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected--especially from a man like Sean. He's tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most...is to let each other go?

"The perfect mix of funny, hot and heartwarming. I enjoyed it immensely!" -- Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling author, on Four Letter Word

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧 • PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 Stars • My listening experience has zero issues. In fact, as of late, I haven’t been enjoying Sebastian York’s narrations as much as I had in the past, but this narration was really good by him! This was my first Kate Russell experience, and I enjoyed her as well! Like I said, zero issues :) • STORY REVIEW & RATING: Not a solid 3.5 experience so I’m rounding to 4 Stars! • I enjoyed going back to this series after a few years away from it. After just a few chapters, everything I love about J. Daniels voice and style came flooding back and I was one happy listener! • The journey of Shayla & Sean is one of the best kind of journeys! Their friendship built and solidified before the romance snuck in and added its layer. There’s no other way Sean’s story could have been told and it be realistic. That man really never stood a chance at life, until Shayla … "You never had a chance. You were born into hate.” *heart eyes*!! Shayla made it her purpose in life to make sure this man felt love and felt it hard! She was persistent and sassy, and sometimes didn’t give herself enough credit for her own worth, but above all, she was heart and hope!! I liked their dynamic a whole lot, but I do wish the romance between them hadn’t taken so long for them to give into. Yes, this needed to be a slow burn journey, but sometimes I felt we were moving so slow in this department that we might have been just coasting. Feel me? • This is why I am so ridiculously happy that I got the opportunity to *listen* to this story rather than *read* it. I know me very well, and I can pretty much guarantee that I would have put this book down and moved on to something else countless times, even though I really enjoyed the story overall. • Some of the things that stood out to me (in no particular order) are: • ✔️ Val was not written as the stereotypical ex and that was tremendously refreshing! • ✔️ The circumstance of the children and Sean was also not written stereotypically and that made my heart sing! • ✔️ The friendship between Shayla and Val is also a circumstance you don’t see written in this way very often so props for that! • ✔️ The story was extremely emotional but not really angst-driven but more driven by hope. I felt a whole lot of this story but was never bogged down by those #feels. Well done! •

Wow forgot how much i loved this book! I read this book years ago when it first came out, but it felt so fresh and new that i absolutely loved listening to the audiobook! Sean had a horrible life growing up. He lived with a mother that hated and resented him, and since she refused to do anything for him, he justified stealing to get things he NEEDED. Years later, this resulted in him getting caught stealing a car with his 2 young daughters with him. After being released from jail and having no way of seeing his girls, he tries to get his life on track and goes to work at Whitecaps Restaurant as a cook. Shayla is a waitress there, but he feels he doesn’t deserve her attention so rarely talks back to her. Shayla has dreams of her own… she wants to own a salon of her own, but for now she is having to do it from her apartment. When her grandmother passes away, shayla has to help her family out with her two younger brothers, but she keeps getting everything wrong. Sean steps in to help, and that begins their friendship. It blossoms slowly as they help each other get over their own issues, and she helps him get access to his girls again. The story overall is so sweet and loving and I just absolutely loved it. The narrators did a bang up job keeping the pace as well as the interest in the book. Great job! I received a free copy of this audio book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

All the hugs for Stitch because he deserves them all so much!!! This story, this love affair, was more than I ever expected and had me alternating from sad tears to tears of joy to tears of anger. Shayla is overflowing with positivity but even she feels the need to back away at times. Stitch (Sean) has lead a life that nightmares are made of, but he keeps trying, even if he doesn’t believe things will ever get better. These two dance around each other, and then we have a great and long drawn out slow burn before everything comes together. Even then, things aren’t easy, but they finally get it, and keep doing their thing, which is the most perfect thing for them <3
