為瞭解機車交通事故的嚴重度，規劃我國交通事故資料蒐集體系，本研究分為兩大部分進行說明：第一針對「機車交通事故傷害資料調查與分析」，本研究以第一年的初探研究成果為基礎，針對全國各區域及城鄉進行合理的樣本分配，透過郵寄問卷方式取得機車事故住院傷患的人口學、疾病史、藥物使用、行駛速度、護具使用、事故發生時行為及駕駛習慣等資料，連結醫院端的傷害嚴重度數據，利用統計分析，找出影響機車交通事故傷害嚴重度的危險因子，作為機車事故傷害防治工作之規劃依據。第二針對「填報交通事故傷害資料及分析影響」，本研究延續第一年計畫成果，透過行政決策、緊急醫療等專家學者不同角度進行討論，訂定可行方案，於計畫期間內試行，以實證方式決定我國使用的交通事故傷害嚴重度指標，完成全國交通事故傷害嚴重度推估流程。本研究並規劃交通事故傷害資料蒐集體系建議方案，提供權責單位及學術機構應用參考。
