本書以漢學講座演講系列，邀請在臺和來臺的重要漢學家，進行他們於漢學領域的主要學思歷程之演講、訪談、錄影等，經過整理而成為專書出版問世。 本書內容包括在臺灣的當代新儒家第三代的代表性學者、歐洲著名漢學家、在臺灣的神父漢學家，再加上敦煌學者等，總共有八位重要的當代漢學家的學思歷程的演講、訪談之內容。漢學是一個範圍寬廣的學術領域，本書當然無法涵蓋一切漢學家的學思歷程所隱含和表現的智慧和知識，但卻由於邀請訪談的學者各領漢學一方精彩之內容，故讀此書亦得以觀當代漢學之殿堂的崇高和莊嚴。
