《基礎會計學》以財政部2006年頒佈的企業會計準則及其應用指南為依據，借鑒和吸收了國內外相關的會計理論和方法，並結合應用型會計本科人才培養的實際需要，對會計的基本理論、基本知識和基本方法，進行了深入淺出的講述。《基礎會計學》根據初學者可能遇到的問題，以會計的確認、計量和報告為主線，比較系統地講述了會計科目和帳戶的設置、複式記帳、填制和審核會計憑證、登記會計帳簿、財產清查和會計報表編制等會計核算的專門方法，內容新穎，寓針對性、實用性和可操作性於一身，實現了理論知識傳授和專業實際技能培養的有機結合。 會計與經濟關係密切，經濟越發達，會計越重要。隨著我國社會主義市場經濟的深入發展，企事業單位元元元元將需要大量的、掌握會計基本理論和基本技能的應用型專門人才。在培養應用型會計本科人才的過程中，我們對課程體系和課程內容進行了長期地探索與實踐，尤其對其入門課程“基礎會計學”開展了教改實驗研究，取得了良好的改革成效。在此基礎上，我們組織編寫了這本《基礎會計學》教材。
