About the author
孫臏，原名孫蒙。孫蒙因為遭受同門師兄龐涓的陷害，而被臏去雙腿，他為了銘記這個恥辱，因此改名為「臏」，而使原本的名字失傳了。（參見拙作《孫臏考》相關考證、小說《暗箭：孫龐鬥智》）孫臏，是戰國時代繼吳起之後最出色的兵法家。在整個中國兵法的歷史裡，與吳起並列第二或超越吳起。他不僅留下了珍貴的兵法思想，同時他所藉以成名的兩場大戰：桂陵之戰、馬陵之戰，也確實徹底了改變了整個戰國時代的形勢。可以說，戰國時代沒有孫臏，最終統一天下的可能不是秦國。
