筆者從事教職工作歷經職業學校資料處理科、資訊科直至赴國中擔任資訊科技教師，投身程式設計軟、硬體教學實務近二十年。對於程式教育有著一股熱忱，總是希望學生學習不是為了應付老師，而是能在學習過程中發現樂趣、了解原來這些神奇的事物並沒有想像中的困難，也期望透過本書讓更多的程式初學者能有個好的入門磚。
MakeCode Arcade 是2019 年1 月18 日由微軟公司所發布，內含2D 遊戲引擎，比Scratch 更簡單、有趣、好玩，且支援積木式和文字式程式語言，非常適合初學者及專業玩家學習的開源軟體。
MakeCode Arcade 可以輕易的設計出復古街機遊戲運行於網頁和小型遊戲機，網頁部分無需安裝，遊戲就能直接在電腦、平板、手機的瀏覽器中設計和執行；也可將設計好的程式下載到實體遊戲機，也就是本書推薦採用的WiFiBoy Arcade 編程學習遊戲機。此遊戲機內建擴充母座不需要像Scratch 還要安裝中介軟體，便可直接連接外部感測器或控制外部設備，使用上非常簡單又方便。
