About this ebook
廖一久院士，歷任農復會美國洛氏基金水產養殖計畫研究員、臺灣省水產試驗所研究員兼東港分所分所長，以及臺灣省水產試驗所所長。2002年退休後，任國立臺灣海洋大學講座教授迄今。廖院士一生獲獎無數，包括全國十大傑出青年獎、行政院首屆傑出科技人才獎 、國科會傑出研究獎等並榮獲國科會特約研究員，第三世界科學院以及中央研究院院士。
廖院士領導研究團隊，從事水產養殖及水族生理 、生態等研究和實務，諸如：首先確立草蝦人工繁殖技術、首締人工繁殖烏魚苗成功紀錄、領先世界完成虱目魚人工繁殖，以及推動魚蝦栽培漁業研究等，造福養殖漁民，促成臺灣養殖產業的變革，進而提昇臺灣國際水產界的地位，也深深影響國際水產養殖產業的發展。
