資源委員會為我國抗戰前後(民國二十一年至四十一年)從事各項工礦業開發建設之機構。前期重視國防工業，後期兼發展民生工業，尤以支援長期抗戰，全面帶動我工業發展，繼而建設臺灣復興基地，對我工礦業發展與國家建設，有其不可磨滅之貢獻。本書之編纂，旨在以檔案史料有系統的介紹資源委員會之沿革、組織、人事及業務概況，俾勾勒出其輪廓，予世人以簡明之認識。全書共分九章，依內容性質分上、下兩冊。上冊介紹資源委員會從創立到復員時期，該會及其附屬事業機構之組織及業務等，下冊說明其人事及臺灣辦事處與附屬事業機構等。全書八十餘萬字，可供研究資源委員會及中國工業發展史者之參考。
