문학동네포에지 49권. 고정희 시인의 마지막 시집. 시인은 1990년 말 들꽃세상에서 이 시집을 펴낸 후 이듬해 취재차 나선 산행에서 실족하여 자신의 정신적 고향이자 시혼의 본거였던 지리산의 품에 안겼다. 32년 만의 복간임에 그의 31주기에 맞추어 펴낸다.
시인은 이 시집을 두고 ‘연시집’이라 일렀다. 사랑을 향한 부름, 사랑이라는 연습, 사랑을 위한 조문... 사랑으로 써내었거나 ‘사랑’ 그 자체인 시편들이 시집 속에 빼곡하다. 그가 떠난 후 출간된 유고시집 『모든 사라지는 것들은 뒤에 여백을 남긴다』(창비, 1992)를 제외하면 이 책이 그의 생전 마지막 시집이니, 그가 우리 곁에 마지막으로 남긴 이 여백을 ‘사랑’이라 부를 수도 있겠다.
About the author
1975년 『현대시학』을 통해 등단했다. 시집 『누가 홀로 술틀을 밟고 있는가』 『실락원 기행』 『초혼제』 『이 시대의 아벨』 『눈물꽃』 『지리산의 봄』 『저 무덤 위에 푸른 잔디』 『광주의 눈물비』 『여성해방출사표』 『아름다운 사람 하나』, 유고시집 『모든 사라지는 것들은 뒤에 여백을 남긴다』 등이 있다. 대한민국문학상을 수상했다. 1991년 6월 9일 43세를 일기로 생을 마감했다.
