보들레르는 세계적으로 유명한 시인입니다. 유명세라는 게 작품성과 꼭 일치하는 것은 아니지만, 현대시의 세계에서 보들레르는 유명하면서도 작품성을 높이 인정받는 작가지요. 이름만 들어보신 분도 계실 테고, 시를 좋아하는 분이라면 작품을 읽어보기도 했을 겁니다. 우리나라에 가장 널리 알려진 프랑스 시인이니까요. 한때 우리나라 시에 적잖은 영향을 미치기도 했지요. 1920~30년대, 그러니까 외국문학의 영향을 받으며 한국근대시가 형성될 때 우리 시단에서 큰 관심을 갖고 소개하거나 때로 모방까지 한 대표적인 외국시인이 보들레르였습니다.

인천대학교 불어불문학과 교수. 연세대를 졸업하고 프로방스 대학에서 석사 및 박사 학위를 취득했다. 「『화사집』과 『악의 꽃』의 상관성에 대한 고찰」 등 다수의 논문이 있다.
