2009년 서울신문 신춘문예로 등단한 시인 정영효의 첫 시집이 문학동네에서 출간되었다. 등단 당시 우리가 발 딛고 있는 현실로 상상력을 끌어와 자연스럽게 전개하는 능력을 인정받았던 정영효는 51편의 시에서 현실의 공간을 자신만의 구조로 다시 직조하며 이설의 이야기들을 불러온다. 시집의 해설을 맡은 김나영 문학평론가가 "들려주는 말보다 들려주지 못한 말을 더 많이 남기는 이야기"라고 한 것처럼 정영효의 시들은 다 말해지지 못한 나머지의 것들을 가리킨다. 정영효의 시를 통해 우리가 읽을 수 있는 것은, 대상의 한쪽을 선택해 완결하는 언어가 아니라 그 제목 바깥에 존재하는 가능태의 이야기들을 오래도록 바라보려는 시인의 태도이다.
